Mental Health Awareness Week 2019
AIM Academies Trust aim to support their students throughout their school careers and help prepare them for life post-education. Developing a clear understanding of our own and other people's mental health is a vital part of that. Students across both London Academy and Deansbrook Junior School have a range of activities and schemes in place to ensure there is no stigma to mental health. The Trust is mindful of the importance of positive mental health for the well-being of the whole school community.
Through a range of programmes, a supportive, caring environment has been created with students and staff encouraged to participate in a range of activities including a lunchtime club for students to find a quiet place to talk and play, and through the provision of a dedicated counselling service.
Deansbrook Junior School have a strong ethos of mindfulness which has been fostered through a 12-month programme and is an active part in everyday life at school. We believe this effectively supports students and provides them with the skills to find a moment of peace, even when their lives feel so busy.
