I'm proud to build on Peter Shalson's extraordinary legacy. His vision established London Academy as one of the first 12 academies under Labour's flagship reform programme. His belief in education shaped the Trust from day one. We owe him our deepest thanks.
My Commitment
Every child, in every classroom, every day, should get what they need to thrive – and to become a Leader for Tomorrow.
To make that happen, I’m focusing on three priorities:
1. Ambitious Outcomes for Pupils
Our schools already do excellent work. Now we're building on those strengths: strengthening teaching and curriculum, improving literacy and numeracy, raising expectations, and preparing every student for ambitious next steps—whether further study, apprenticeships or employment.
We're developing confident, capable, and compassionate young people equipped to lead and serve their communities.
2. Smart Use of Technology
We'll use technology – especially AI – thoughtfully and responsibly. It should enrich classroom learning, reduce unnecessary teacher workload, and provide targeted support for pupils who need it.
Technology enhances; it doesn't replace. The human relationships at the heart of great education always come first.
3. Broader Horizons Through Connection
Every pupil should be regularly inspired by the world beyond school. We're deepening links with employers, universities, mentors and cultural institutions – bringing real-world experiences and opening doors that help young people raise their sights.
Why I'm Here
In 2010, I made a promise to a young man with a terminal illness: that I would create a school for disadvantaged children. That promise became One Degree Academy in Enfield in 2016, rated Outstanding by Ofsted twice – in 2019 and 2025. And named one of the Top 10 schools in the world by the World's Best School Prize 2025.
My 40-year career at EY taught me that education transforms lives. As a Senior Partner and leader of Global Learning & Development for over 400,000 people, I saw firsthand what's possible when people are given the tools to thrive.
