2004: Faith in Action
– London Academy opens in London’s Edgware with a powerful conviction: excellent teaching and unshakeable belief in every child can transform outcomes in a poor community written off by the education system.
– It is the 12th new academy under the flagship Labour Government Academies programme.
– Our Founding Sponsor is British businessman, Peter Shalson.
2006: Proof of Progress
– All 1,425 pupils move into a groundbreaking £36 million building designed by Sir Norman Foster.
– London Academy also bucks the trend of academies attracting negative headlines. School inspectors say it’s made "exceptionally good progress".
2012: Scaling Success
– Deansbrook Junior School joins London Academy to form AIM Academies Trust.
– For the first time in UK education, a sponsored academy led the formation of a multi-academy trust.
2019: Rescue Mission
– AIM North London opens in Enfield, sponsored by the AIM Academies Trust and replacing Nightingale Academy, judged “inadequate” by Ofsted.
2023: Mission Accomplished
– London Academy ranks among the top 60 schools nationally for GCSE progress.
– AIM North London secures a ‘Good’ rating by Ofsted for the first time in the school’s history, formally placing it among North London's most improved schools.
2024: Top-Ranking Results
– AIM North London ranks in the top 25% schools nationally for GCSE results.
– 90%+ of students progress to university or apprenticeships, including Russell Group universities.
2025: Leadership Transition
– Global business leadership and learning expert, Riaz Shah OBE, steps in as the new AIM Academies Trust Sponsor.
